I wonder what they were trying to say with that facade...the columns and triangular roof peak over the storefront end of the building seems more appropriate for a downtown savings and loan building than a fill'er-up. And yet it is still a caricature - not really ornate and not really columns, but clearly a facade. What impression were the owners going for? Could it have been an addition to the structure sometime around 1976, tied in with the bicentennial landmark fervor? Or was it tied into the corporate identity of the company?
